Hermann Seib updates VSTHost to v1.51 and SAVIHost to v1.39 (incl. VST3 hosting)

Hermann Seib has updated VSTHost to version 1.51 and SAVIHost to version 1.39.

Changes in both programs: lots of bug fixes and internal changes, especially:

  • SSE2 bug cured that caused ghastly noise when the output to a 24-bit sound card needed clipping.

  • "Linear Knob mode" implemented.

Changes in SAVIHost:

  • SAVIHost now contains a VST3.1 host in 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

VSTHost

VSTHost

It's a little program created to host VST Plug-ins capable of:

  • Load VST effects

  • Parameterize / edit them

  • Sound output for VSTi (VST instruments)

  • MIDI-input and -output

  • Load / save .fxb / .fxp files

  • I/O through either Windows MME or ASIO drivers

  • Wave Player / Recorder

  • MIDI Player

While the program started mainly as an aid in understanding and debugging VST plugins, it has evolved into a quite capable program by now which can be really helpful in a keyboard artist's Live setup.

Since questions do occur from time to time, I've created a discussion forum for them.

SAVIHost

SAVIHost

SAVIHost is a derivative version of VSTHost that can be used to make any VSTi run like a standalone application.

This offers two major advantages:

  1. VSTi can be used (tested, checked or tried) easily and directly without the need or search for another host.

  2. VSTi can be distributed to be tested in a temporary directory without the need of the presence of another host or to search for a dedicated VSTPlugIns-subdirectory. The VSTi-dll can still be used within other hosts like Cubase, Sonar etc. when copied to that host's VSTPlugins-subdirectory.

For use just rename SAVIHost.exe to the corresponding VSTi.dll e.g. if there is abc123.dll rename SAVIHost.exe to abc123.exe and this will run the VSTi.
