(Frequently Asked Questions)

Here you will find 40 answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Q: I've registered VST plug-in but have not got the email with the download URL information.

A: After your purchase, when payment is received, registration is delivered electronically (usually be sent within 24 hours of payment on weekdays and weekends). If you used a valid email address and still didn't receive our download link, there are a few things you can check:

  • First, make sure your email account can accept emails coming from us ( *@syntheway.net).

  • Also, make sure your email security settings aren't too high otherwise it will mistake this email as SPAM/JUNK E-MAIL

  • Lastly take a look to your SPAM folder. This is the most common reason why email cannot be delivered.

  • Once you have corrected all issues with your email account you must receive download information without problems.

  • MORE INFO:

If you continue having problems then please email us at support@syntheway.net and make sure you let us know which alternative email address you signed up, instead email Paypal account. This problem normally occurs with AOL users.

Q: What is RAR file extension? I sent the rar file to VST plug ins folder. Is this correct?

A: No. The files are compressed with WinRar for minimum file size. RAR is a format like ZIP. It is a compressed archive. You must to extract the RAR contents using WinRAR: It's free to try from www.rarlab.com/download.htm. Like unzipping a *.zip file, extract "*.rar" into VST Plug-ins Folder. (RAR Contains "*.dat" & "*.dll" files). Right click on *.rar, select 'extract Files' from the menu.

Q: I've downloaded "Registered version of VST plug-in", but this password doesn't work. Why?

A: The password is tested correctly before upload to server.
Please try again copying and pasting the whole range including from the first character to end and without blank spaces. It is case sensitive.

Q: When I copied and pasted the password it was too long too fit in the password window. When I checked with WINACE, the last digits would not fit. Why?

A: Recent versions of WinZip (i.e. v10.0) support a much stronger encryption standard, an improvement over the previous Zip 2.0 algorithm. So you haven't problem with "the last digits". So, please use  WinZip  (Free to try) to open the file, or update your old version of WinZip.

Q: What are the demo limitations?

A: The code for the licensed and evaluation versions of this software are identical. The Demo Version is full functional. You can do anything you can do with the full version, you can even save your presets. Also in the demo are some presets included to demonstrate the instruments capabilities. The only restriction:
The Demo generates a short beep in all output channels every 10 seconds.
THE REGISTERED VERSION DOES NOT HAVE THIS INTERMITTING NOISE.

Q: Is a demo version available for download?

A: Demo version of Syntheway's plug-ins is available. You can now download the free Demo Software on download page

Q: Why is it important to try the demo version before buying?

A: Because there are many host applications and system configurations, and there might be compatibility issues for some products. We don't want you to have issues with our software after your purchase

Q: What's Mirror Sites?

A: If you have problems downloading from main site, you can try to download from mirror sites. A Mirror Site holds copies of resources that originate on remote, and possibly far away, sites. Individuals can use a mirror service to access these resources locally thereby reducing network traffic and requests to the originating servers. As a result, users enjoy quicker and more reliable response times.  You can now download the free Demo Software from mirror sites on download page

The programs wraps VST plug-ins so that they can be used in DirectX host applications .Is the easiest way to gain access to the hundreds of  VST plug-ins from your DirectX audio application. Q: How do I install the plug-ins?

A: The files must be in a directory where the VST host is looking for VST plug-ins. So, Unzip, and extract *.RAR file into VST Plug-ins Folder. They will appear in the host "instruments" (For VSTi) or "effects" (For VST) menu.

Q: How do I Uninstall the plug-ins?

A: To uninstall simply remove the *.dat & *.dll files of your VST Plug-ins folder.

Q: I can not see the Plug-in in Cakewalk Sonar 4.

A: Sonar features a ‘Plug-In Manager’ which is not being installed with Sonar application by default. You want to insert Sonar installation CD > Utilities > Install ‘Cakewalk Plug-In Manager’. Once installed, launch the Plug-in Manager and enable the plug-ins to your desire. Now when you launch Sonar – they should be available.

Using VST Synths and Plug-ins at Cakewalk Sonar 4:
You can use VST synths and plug-in effects the same way you use DXi synths and plug-in effects. All you need to do is run the Cakewalk VST Adapter program to do a configuration each time you install new VST synths and/or plug-in effects. The VST Adapter configures your plug-ins for you-usually you don't need to change any of the options that the Adapter offers, but the options are there if you decide you need them.

Note: the VST Adapter contains a delay compensator, which the VST Adapter turns on and off automatically for each individual plug-in (only a few plug-ins need it). If your plug-in needs extra time to process the audio data, the plug-in sends a message to the VST Adapter, and the VST Adapter relays the message to the host program so it can synchronize playback time to the delayed output from the plug-in. The checkbox to turn delay compensation on or off is in the VST Plug-in dialog, which opens from the VST Plug-In Configuration dialog when you select a plug-in and click the Properties button. Usually, you can leave the setting the way you found it. If you find that you have a synchronization problem on a track that has a VST plug-in, you can change the setting to try and fix the problem (see Changing Options on Individual Plug-ins).

To Register VST Plug-ins to Use as DXi Plug-ins
at Cakewalk Sonar 4:
Use the Windows Start menu: Programs-Cakewalk-Cakewalk VST Adapter 4-Cakewalk VST Adapter 4. This opens the VST Configuration Wizard.
Click Next-when the VST Plug-in Search Paths dialog appears, click the Add button to browse for the folders where you installed your new VST plug-in(s).
After you've browsed for folders, you can remove a folder from being scanned by selecting the folder in the VST Plug-in Search Paths dialog and clicking the Remove button
When the desired folders are displayed in the VST Plug-in Search Path dialog, click Next to have the adapter scan all the displayed folders for VST plug-ins.
The adapter finds your plug-ins, configures them, and lists them in the VST Plug-in Configuration dialog.

Q: What are SoundFonts?

A: SoundFonts are a file format originally developed by Creative Labs, the makers of the "Sound Blaster" series of audio cards. SoundFonts are "simply" collections of audio samples, with keymapping parameters, encapsulated into a single file. You "load" the SoundFont *.SF2 format into Fantasize SoundFont Player and you immediately transform your VST host into a powerful instrument. because you can add several instruments/drumkits and can be modulated with Fantasize's functions and by MIDI Continuous Controllers.

Q: What's MIDI CC?

A: Short for "MIDI Continuous Controller", a specific kind of MIDI message. The modulation wheel of your synth, for example, sends out "MIDI Continuous Controller 1", or CC#1. Likewise, Volume is CC#7, GLIDE - Portamento Time is CC#5 -
, etc.

Q: Do your plug-ins support MIDI CC?

A: Yes. Check individually on each plug-in page (or help button in GUI) for FULL MIDI Automation. We offer a precise definition of the MIDI Continuous Controller.

Q: What's vibrato and tremolo?

A: Confusingly, vibrato is sometimes referred to as tremolo. Basically, tremolo is variance in volume, and vibrato is variance in pitch.

Tremolo is a regular and repetitive variation in amplitude for the duration of a single note.

Vibrato is a musical effect where the pitch or frequency of a note or sound is quickly and repeatedly raised and lowered over a small distance for the duration of that note or sound.

If you will not get the "link to download" within a reasonable amount of time (1 business days for credit card payments, e-Checks take an average of 4-5 business days to clear your bank), please notify us about that!.
